Dwight Howard: Superman or Super bust?

Maybe it's just me but I think all of this hoopla surrounding Dwight Howard is beyond stupid. Here's a player that averaged 17 points , 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block per game with the Lakers after coming back from back surgery. Despite a drop in his stats from the last full season he played (the 11-12 year to be exact), Howard is still a good player but his "diva" mentality is annoying. For those of you who say that one player's ego won't affect a team, I'd like to introduce you to a man named...Carmelo Anthony.

In case you've forgotten, let's take a look back at the past year for Dwight Howard.

  • Howard requests a trade from the Magic but then opts to stay there for another season.
  • Howard allegedly goes to Orlando Magic ownership and asks for a new coach and GM. According to several media reports, Howard was given the impression that he would be able to hand pick the next coach and GM for the team.
  • Stan Van Gundy tells reporters that he recently found out from the Magic front office that Dwight Howard wanted him gone.
  • Dwight Howard undergoes back surgery and misses the playoffs.
  • Stan Van Gundy is fired from the Orlando Magic.
  • Dwight Howard leaves the Magic and takes his talents to LA.
Be honest...would you want this dude playing for your team?

  1. No, but all NBA stars except Dirk and Tim Duncan have become super divas. They used to be just divas like Kobe, but in the last few years they've become super divas. That's why Jason Collins is their new mascot.

  2. I think he will be different on a team that was in a smaller market where he is treated as a human and not like "Superman."
