Maybe it's just me but I think all of this hoopla surrounding Dwight Howard is beyond stupid. Here's a player that averaged 17 points , 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block per game with the Lakers after coming back from back surgery. Despite a drop in his stats from the last full season he played (the 11-12 year to be exact), Howard is still a good player but his "diva" mentality is annoying. For those of you who say that one player's ego won't affect a team, I'd like to introduce you to a man named...Carmelo Anthony.
In case you've forgotten, let's take a look back at the past year for Dwight Howard.
- Howard requests a trade from the Magic but then opts to stay there for another season.
- Howard allegedly goes to Orlando Magic ownership and asks for a new coach and GM. According to several media reports, Howard was given the impression that he would be able to hand pick the next coach and GM for the team.
- Stan Van Gundy tells reporters that he recently found out from the Magic front office that Dwight Howard wanted him gone.
- Dwight Howard undergoes back surgery and misses the playoffs.
- Stan Van Gundy is fired from the Orlando Magic.
- Dwight Howard leaves the Magic and takes his talents to LA.
